I liked this piece a lot Garrett. Great idea to setting aside time each day to only take in the target language. I also have Spanish and French Spotify playlist! For tandems, theres also Couchsurfing groups and Conversation Exchange.

Thanks for this, Daniel! And thanks for sharing these other options for practice. The more we can share these tactics as language learners, the better!

Great tips, Garrett! Another thing I like to do, going along with your daily habits advice, is to change my phone and all social media to my target language. I also like to find volunteer opportunities with communities who speak my target language. Sometimes people are also looking for language exchange partners where you can practice in person.

I also love the example about volunteer opportunities. I actually got to do that a few years ago in Portuguese when a Brazilian family needed help finding and moving to a different apartment in my area. It was great practice for me that stretched my comfort level a bit, and it was helpful to the family. Win-win!

I love that! Especially when you're at a level where changing the language of your apps or device settings won't hinder your productivity or enjoyment. After all, it's a lot easier to stick with a method if you enjoy the work you're doing. For example, my Siri is in French, so I am constantly engaging with French that way to maintain certain skills.
